• This Week: This chapter is often used as part of wedding ceremonies. But was not directed toward couples but to the church instead. A church that loves each other is a mature, healthy, and vibrant church that God can greatly use!

• This Week: The Holy Spirit gives different spiritual gifts to different believers. We do not decide what gifts we have; thus we should not think we are better than someone else. The church body is gifted and when the body is working together, it is a beautiful thing to behold.
Key Phrase: “Just as the body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.” 1 Corinthians 12:12

• This Series: The Church at Corinth is very similar to the Church in America. We will walk through 1 Corinthians and apply the major themes of this book to our church today.
• This Week: Different believers draw boundaries in different places than other believers. If it is not in direct conflict with scripture, it is fine. While we need to be sensitive to other preferences, we are still free since we don’t live under the law. Preferences in churches has caused more people to leave a church than sin issues.
Key Phrase: “Knowledge puffs up while love builds up.” 1 Corinthians 8:1

• This Week: There are no perfect churches! However, there are too many messed-up churches. The Corinth church needed to address some serious problems of immorality and immaturity. A messed-up church continually covers up sin.
Key Phrase: “Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?” 1 Corinthians 5:6

• This Week: There is a crisis in the modern church in what is being taught. Too many churches are teaching man’s wisdom instead the Scriptures itself. The Apostle Paul warns us to not drift away from the cross in our teaching.
Key Phrase: “Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified.” 1 Corinthians 1:18-26
