• This Series: People often look at happy images of marriages on social media and say, “I want that,” but they don’t really know what “that” is. The real secret to a great marriage goes far deeper than just a hashtag. In this five-part series we’ll define five goals that will enable couples to keep their focus on the right path for their marriage.
• This Week: Every marriage will be centered around something: job, kids, self, lifestyle, etc. In a Christ-centered marriage, Jesus is your one and your spouse is your two. If Christ is the center of your marriage, you are not on your own. He is right there to held, guide, lead, and direct the marriage.
Key Phrase: “…and he receives favor from the Lord.” Proverbs 18:22

• This Series: Religion has always been man’s attempt to get to God. Jesus came so that, through him, we would have a personal relationship with God. Religion has some good virtues. However, religion can give a false sense of security for what we do for God instead of who we are because of what Christ has done for us.
• This Week: Placing our faith in Jesus has eternal consequences. It also gives us assurance – peace in our soul, that we are in Christ. Many religions teach we can lose our salvation. If true, essentially our salvation would ultimately be determined by us. This leads to insecurity and fear: Did I do enough to “get in”? Am I good enough? This is at the heart of religion.
Key Phrase: “… no one will snatch them out of my hand.” John 10:28

• This Week: Following Jesus is quite distinct from being a fan of Jesus. Being a follower requires commitment and surrender. A fan compartmentalizes their “religion” as a matter of convenience. The challenge is that most fan consider themselves to be followers.
Key Phrase: “Depart from me, I never knew you.” Matthew 7:23

• This Week: In every ‘religion’ you will find ways for mankind to make our way to God. Grace is what separates biblical Christianity from every world religion. It truly is amazing grace!
Key Phrase: “For it is by grace you have been saved… not by works.” Ephesians 2:8-9

• This Week: There is a HUGE difference between religion and a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. It’s similar to an employee vs. a child of the owner. Religion is like “I messed up. My dad is going to kill me!” A relationship with God is like, “I messed up. I need to call my dad!”
Key Phrase: “To those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…” John 1:12

• This Week: A full calendar may mean a full life, but it doesn’t necessarily mean a fulfilling life. Without margin our lives are frantic, frenzied, stressed, and worn out. As a result, we are more prone to anxiety, frustration, irritation and impatience. Sound like the Christmas season? A little margin goes a long way in a crowded season of life.
Key Phrase: “Very early in the morning…Jesus got up… where he prayed. Mark 1:35
