• This Week: The context of this passage is all about submitting to God and His will; not our own. Doing what God wants us to do in all areas of our life makes all the difference as followers of Christ. The last 2 verses aptly apply to believers on the Sunday prior to electing the next President of the United States. For too long, there has been too much damage when believers have little to no self-control in their political opinions – all to the detriment of the gospel. Applying this passage could begin healing our nation.

• This Week: Scripture is clear: salvation is by grace, not works. However, scripture is also clear – faith produces good works. The book of Jude refers to pastors who do ministry for selfish reasons are “like clouds without rain.” They are empty. Void. Worthless. The same goes for a faith without good works. Our good works spring forth from our faith in Christ.

• This Week: Showing parental favoritism is poison that does incredible damage. Showing favorites with God’s children brings judgment. The foot at the cross is level. God’s grace is given freely to the rich and the poor of this world. In the next world (heaven), how much we make in this life is irrelevant.
