• This Week: Another tense moment broken by humor. People praying for a miracle got one but left Peter at the front door. Principle: Don’t be surprised when God answers your prayers!

• This Series: Humor helps lighten life up. Who doesn’t enjoy laughter? Since we are made in the image of God, we can be confident that God enjoys humor as well. Here are four situations in the Bible where we see glimpses of God’s sense of humor.

 

• This Week: When tensions are high, sometimes something happens that breaks the intensity of the moment. They are called Tension Breakers and are often hilarious. There is no greater tension than the arrest of Jesus. God provides a hilarious tension breaker. Principle: Jesus was not taken by force. God creatively displayed His power at a tense moment.

Key Phrase: “They drew back and fell on the ground.” John 18:6

• This Week: In ancient biblical times, a victorious king would “capture” the losing gods and place them in their temple as if to say, “My god is better than your god!” The Philistines tried that with Jehovah. Ha! Principle: How Great is our God!

Key Phrase: “there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground…” 1 Samuel 5:4

• This Week: Something is wrong with you if you don’t think this story is humorous! One, the donkey literally talks to his owner and two, the owner talks back and debates his donkey! Principle: God sometimes gets creative to stop us in our tracks.

• This Series: This series will take us on a room-to-room tour, beginning in the kitchen and ending in the garage. Each room represents either a life stage or a set of principles for a healthy and happy home.

 

• This Week: The garage is where the tools are. We will discuss the role of the father and what tools fathers have to impact the life of their child.

 

Key Phrase: “…as a father deals with his own children encouraging, comforting, and urging…” 1 Thessalonians 2:12

Dream House (Part 5) • Laundry Room: Discipline

• This Series: This series will take us on a room-to-room tour, beginning in the kitchen and ending in the garage. Each room represents either a life stage or a set of principles for a healthy and happy home.

 

• This Week: The laundry room symbolizes discipline. Without discipline, we send our kids out into public with stained, smelly, and soiled behavior that makes other people want to avoid them. Discipline is a necessity if a home is to be truly healthy and happy.

 

Key Phrase: “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews 12:11
