HATS: Roles Parents Play (Part 4) • "Player" • Barry Bandara
Monday May 19, 2025
Monday May 19, 2025
About the series:
Following the baseball analogy, parents (and grandparents) have 4 clearly defined roles in scripture. These 4 roles need to be taken seriously and applied consistently. If this happens, the child and the adults will be blessed beyond measure!
About this week's message: One of the most unique aspects of the game of baseball, it’s the only sport where the coaches wear a uniform (with a #) just like every player. This is symbolic of life of both parent and children. As long as a parent still has breath, they are playing the game of life just like their kids are. Every parent has the opportunity to live and build a lasting legacy that will far outlive their days on planet earth.
Key Phrase: “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.” Philippians 3:13

About the series: Following the baseball analogy, parents (and grandparents) have 4 clearly defined roles in scripture. These 4 roles need to be taken seriously and applied consistently. If this happens, the child and the adults will be blessed beyond measure!
About this week's message: Perspectives about life and views of the world are primarily formed at home. It is parents and grandparents whom God has designed to primarily disciple children. Most parents do not have a biblical, God-honoring game plan to disciple/teach/coach their children. Thankfully, there are great resources available today!
Key Phrase: “So that you, your children, and their children after them may fear the Lord your God.” Deuteronomy 6:2

About the series: Following the baseball analogy, parents (and grandparents) have 4 clearly defined roles in scripture. These 4 roles need to be taken seriously and applied consistently. If this happens, the child and the adults will be blessed beyond measure!
About this week's message: Umpires are a needed and necessary part of the game. You can have the most beautifully marked chalk lines on the field, but they are meaningless if they are not enforced. The best umpires have a few distinct attributes that cause them to stand out among their peers and be highly respected by the players. These attributes make the best parents too!
Key Phrase: “…the Lord disciplines those he loves.” Hebrews 12:6

About the series: Following the baseball analogy, parents (and grandparents) have 4 clearly defined roles in scripture. These 4 roles need to be taken seriously and applied consistently. If this happens, the child and the adults will be blessed beyond measure!
About this week's message: The role of groundskeeper in baseball is very important. If the playing field is not maintained, the field will not be safe. If the foul lines are not chalked, the game will result in arguments, confusion, and chaos. God knows children need a healthy field with clearly marked boundary lines.
Key Phrase: “The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places…” Proverbs 16:6

DIRECTION DETERMINES DESTINATION (Part 4) • EASTER "Eternal Path" • Barry Bandara
Wednesday Apr 23, 2025
Wednesday Apr 23, 2025
About the series: It’s not just a relationship, a purchase, or a decision. It’s a path. Every path has a destination. In the end, we will end up at the destination from the path we have chosen to take. With driving or hiking, getting lost will cost us minutes or hours. With life, it will cost us years!
About this week's message: We are surrounded with advertisements calling out to us to purchase their product. The ads use subtle hooks to lure people to buy. Hooks such as, “You need this!” “Everyone has this!” “Don’t think, just buy it!” Too many people are living in financial bondage as a result. They unknowingly walked a path that led them to ruin and destruction.
Key Phrase: “Be very careful, then, how you live – not unwise but as wise.”Ephesians 5:15

About the series: It’s not just a relationship, a purchase, or a decision. It’s a path. Every path has a destination. In the end, we will end up at the destination from the path we have chosen to take. With driving or hiking, getting lost will cost us minutes or hours. With life, it will cost us years!
About this week's message: Information is NOT our problem. We are drowning in it. Independence is our problem. We want to do whatever we want to do. Submission is also our problem. We don’t really want advice. So we say, “I’ve got this. I know what I’m doing!” Do we, really?
Key Phrase: “Do not be wise in your own eyes.” Proverbs 3:7a

About this week's message:
We put so much weight on people’s intentions these days. If politicians make a poor decision, they want their good intentions to trump their poor decision. In life, it doesn’t work this way. Direction – not intentions – determines our destination.
Key Phrase: “The prudent see danger and take refuge.” Proverbs 27:12

IDENTITY AMNESIACS (Part 6) • "I am LOVED!" • Barry Bandara
Monday Mar 24, 2025
Monday Mar 24, 2025
About the series: For 40 days, the army of Israel hid in fear of Goliath. Why did they hide? Why were they paralyzed by fear? Because they were an army of identity amnesiacs! They had forgotten WHO they were! This series will remind us WHO we are IN CHRIST.
About this week's message: Sadly, not every child is loved by their parents. These children grow up in a continual search for love they were designed to receive. In Christ, we are loved by God. Sadly, many people know this intellectually but not practically. They don’t REALLY believe that they are loved… by… God!
Key Phrase: “See what great love the Father has lavished on us.” 1 John 3:1

About this week's message: Every child is precious and special. An adopted child takes this to the next level. Why? Because they were chosen. How special it is to be adopted into God’s family and called a child of God.
Key Phrase: “You are no longer foreigners… but members of His household.” Ephesians 2:19
