• This Week: Every disciple understands they are connected to a larger body called the Church. In order for a disciple to make other disciples, they must model active participation in their local church. By participating in the church body, they help their church accomplish their mission to help people meet, know, and follow Jesus.

• This Week: Every disciple needs to understand their true identity that is only found in Christ. This will help one rest in WHO they are. More importantly, understanding WHOSE they are will provide assurance and confidence in living life in this broken world.

• This Week: Every disciple-maker needs to know how to share God's story of redemption in a simple and clear way. Barry will provide two effective ways to help you share the gospel.

• This Week: Stories are powerful. Several faith stories in the Bible are: "I was once blind, but now I see." "Whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special grace on me - and not without results." "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words that give eternal life!" Disciples making disciples share their story of how Jesus changed their life with the people God has placed around them.

• This Series: The goal of this series is to equip ordinary people to be empowered by the Holy Spirit and be involved in an extraordinary mission: disciples making disciples

A CHURCH IN CRISIS (Part 6) • ”Absence of Love” • Bob Valles

• This Series: The Church at Corinth is very similar to the Church in America. We will walk through 1 Corinthians and apply the major themes of this book to our church today.

 

• This Week: This chapter is often used as part of wedding ceremonies. But was not directed toward couples but to the church instead. A church that loves each other is a mature, healthy, and vibrant church that God can greatly use!

 

Key Phrase: “If I … but do not have love, I gain nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:3

A CHURCH IN CRISIS (Part 5) • ”Different But One” • Barry Bandara

• This Series: The Church at Corinth is very similar to the Church in America. We will walk through 1 Corinthians and apply the major themes of this book to our church today.

 

• This Week: The Holy Spirit gives different spiritual gifts to different believers. We do not decide what gifts we have; thus we should not think we are better than someone else. The church body is gifted and when the body is working together, it is a beautiful thing to behold.

 

Key Phrase: “Just as the body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.” 1 Corinthians 12:12

A CHURCH IN CRISIS (Part 4) • ”Preferential Arrogance” • Barry Bandara

• This Series: The Church at Corinth is very similar to the Church in America. We will walk through 1 Corinthians and apply the major themes of this book to our church today.

 

• This Week: Different believers draw boundaries in different places than other believers. If it is not in direct conflict with scripture, it is fine. While we need to be sensitive to other preferences, we are still free since we don’t live under the law. Preferences in churches has caused more people to leave a church than sin issues.
